Dannevirke Solar Farm

23MWp (Operational May 2026)

Dannevirke Solar Farm is Bright Fern Energy’s flagship New Zealand project, delivered end‑to‑end by the Bright Fern Energy Team.

Bright Fern Energy led the project through all stages of development and delivery, from initial feasibility and land tenure acquisition through the resource consent process, grid modelling and grid connection approval, to detailed design, procurement, construction, and final commissioning.

Stakeholder Engagement

Bright Fern Energy worked closely with local iwi, Te Whare Taiao o Rangitāne and Ngāti Kahungunu, to sensitively restore a local waterway to its natural state, ensuring the project respected cultural values and environmental outcomes.

Alongside this, Bright Fern Energy engaged proactively with Tararua District Council and Transpower to deliver the project efficiently and responsibly in alignment with consent and grid requirements.

End-to-End Delivery

By managing all facets of the project lifecycle in‑house, Bright Fern Energy delivered the Dannevirke Solar Farm on time and on budget, while reducing project complexity.

Our integrated, end‑to‑end approach simplifies delivery, actively manages risk, and results in bankable renewable energy projects designed for reliable, long‑term performance.

Supporting corporate sustainability goals

We collaborate with large energy users, government agencies and energy market participants seeking to support New Zealand’s energy transition.

Increasingly, Bright Fern Energy works directly with corporates looking to improve their environmental performance by sourcing energy from renewable sources, helping them meet sustainability commitments while securing long-term energy certainty.

A trusted energy partner

Bright Fern Energy’s integrated approach, energy sector relationships and project development capability position us as a reliable partner for organisations seeking renewable energy solutions.

We focus on long-term collaboration, clear communication, and outcomes that create shared value.

Reducing risk. Increasing resilience.

Solar farm and battery energy storage projects can enable economic outcomes that may not otherwise be achievable on certain types of land.

The Bright Fern Energy Team is experienced in optimising outcomes for landowners by carefully integrating projects within existing land uses, helping to manage risk across farming operations and providing greater flexibility in how land is used over time.

Our approach is pragmatic, collaborative, and tailored to the each property.

Diversified land use.

Bright Fern Energy projects are designed so farming and grazing can continue alongside solar generation.

We design our projects with continued farming practices in mind. Our project layouts allow for potential sheep grazing throughout the solar arrays, meaning land remains productive while also generating clean electricity.
